Richard B. Cheney has worked as a public official for many years and also is an entrepreneur who has made a name for himself. Cheney is currently the Vice-President of the United States. Bush chose Cheney to be his vice-presidential running mate in July 2000, citing Cheney's knowledge and expertise. Dick Cheney is a former Chief of Staff of the President. He also worked in Congress and was Secretary of Defense. Cheney is a man with integrity and has earned the respect of both Republicans and Democrats. Cheney stated that he sees his job as a trustworthy but discrete adviser in Bush's administration. Cheney has stated in accepting his nomination as the Republican vice president that he hopes to work with a presidential candidate who will be a cross-partisan collaborator and work with their political adversaries with kindness and with an unifying cause. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941, the child of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. In the age of thirteen, Richard moved his family from Nebraska to Casper where his dad was the head of Casper's U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservation district.
